By Walter White

Team Building Activities for WorkHaving a positive atmosphere at work is directly connected to your business’s success.

Keeping your team’s productivity on its maximum is the best decision a leader can make. Though, mostly, it’s hard to find the right way to motivate and entertain your staff to work properly.

We might find some suggestions about team building activities for work, but, sadly, they don’t always come in handy because each team requires a unique way of inspiration.

Still, what are the best activities for team building? There is no such answer. But we’ll reveal the best team building activities for work that are proven being efficient and have shown brilliant results.

Moreover, such activities not only increase the communication rate and productivity of your staff, but forms one of the best memories in our life to share.

9 Brilliant Team Building Activities for Work:

1. Two Truths, One Lie

The idea of the game is to convince the other members that your lie is actually true.

Also, because of getting to know new people is really hard, two truths, one lie makes relationship building and communication easier. How to play the game:

A. Introduce the rules. – Some people might have heard about the game, but some haven’t. After introducing the rules, give everyone a chance to think of their “facts”.

B. An individual writes three “facts” about himself/herself, except one of the facts being a lie is a must. – Don’t write the facts in logical order. For instance, fact, fact, lie. Try to random it. Also, try not to sound suspicious, read every “fact” in the same voice.

C. Have general discussions about the facts. – The one who gives the facts stays quiet and others are discussing.

D. The one guessing a lie, says that, for example, #1 was false. – It’s also possible to discuss the other two facts, that were true. The rest of the crew can talk how they were fooled and failed to guess the correct answer.

E. Writing scores is essential to make the game more interesting. – Give 1 score to the person who guessed the false fact. Though, scoring being optional, we still recommend including it.

2. Tower Building

Tower Building is one the best games that could be used for team building activities for work.

Why?

Because it stimulates your imagination and creativity and both are vital for your business/work. To play the game, you’ll need cards. Here are the instructions:

A. Explain the rules. – Clearly explain what these cars are for and what will they be doing.

B. Distribute the same amount of cards to every member of the group. – Limit the amount as much as possible (If we don’t limit them, it will consume a lot of time), but don’t make it impossible to build.

C. Give directions and set a goal. – Explain the structure of the tower they’ll be building, or give them the opportunity to build it with their imagination/creativity.

D. Announce the winner. – The best tower built is the winner. You can either announce it yourself or let the majority decide.

E. Repeat till someone wins two or three times. – Some people need to practice a little, to unleash their full potential. So don’t stop on the first round. Make it several.

Who Am I3. What Am I?

I love this game! It’s exciting, entertaining and informative. It perfectly answers the question of what are the best team building activities for work.

What you’re going to need to play this game is paper, pen and tape (not necessary, but it’s nice to have it). Here’s how to play:
A. Explain the principle. –  every member writes a word on the paper (We can exclude the words not related to work) and tapes it on the forehead of the member sitting next to him. Make sure that he/she doesn’t see the word written on your paper.

B. Type of questions allowed. – Only ask questions that can have an answer, either yes or no. This part makes the game intellectual because an individual must find a way to ask relevant questions in the right way.

C. Who are the winner and the loser? – The looser is the last player left (Who hasn’t guessed the word) and the rest are the winners. It’s time-consuming, so keep it short and quick.

4. Human Knot Game

This game perfectly works on team building and relationships. It’s a bit hard to explain, but I’ll try my best.

In order to play this game, you’ll need nothing. Instructions:

A. Tell the participants to stand in a circle. – Instruct them to stand shoulder to shoulder and explain to grab someone’s left hand standing across the circle. Now, with their free hands make another connection. Make sure, that someone isn’t holding the hand of the person next to him.

B. Explain the purpose. – The purpose of the game is to untangle everyone so that no one let’s go of their grabbed hands. In case, the chain breaks, members are obliged to start it all over.

Note: This game is best played while wearing casual clothes.

5. Handball Game, Also Known as “Suicide”

This game is a killer! It perfectly fits the description of one of the best team building activities for work! Keep in mind, that this game might hurt a little. T

hough, it’s perfect for developing one’s problem solving and intuition.

Also, you’ll need a high wall, so playing outside would be the best possible option. Read the instructions:

A. Rules. – When a player throws the ball at the wall and it returns, other members must try to catch it.

But if someone catches the ball and drops it, he has to run to the wall before other players catch and throws it at the one who previously dropped it.

If you somehow avoid the ball thrown at you, it’s fine though getting hit, obliges you to leave the game.

B. If you dropped the ball, though tried to pick it up again, it’s a foul. – Such foul is called a “double touch” and if you commit a double touch, you’re automatically out of the game.

To make the game interesting for the one’s out, use them as judges to oversee everything and to make sure no rule is broken.

C. “Super Suicide”. – if any player catches the ball with one hand, every participant (except the judges, if you one) must run to the wall, in order to avoid getting hit.

6. Remove the Negative

Negative It’s fun, but can’t be used regularly and you’ll know why. Every team has a guy who’s always negative.

Using “bad” words to change the positive to negative. So this game will help you exclude the “bad” words from the meetings and will help to keep it more positive.

Moreover, your staff will learn to offer ideas in a positive way.

All you needs is a sheet of paper and a pen. Here’s how to play:

A. Collect the negative words. – write down every negative word that are frequently used during your teams meetings. Then pin it on the wall for everyone to see it.

B. Set a fine. – Now, every time the negative word is used the person will be fined (set a minimal amount) and collect the money in the jar. When enough money is collected, you and your team can have a nice party.

7. This is My Life

In order to play, you’ll going need a deck of cards. Read the instructions:

A. Explain the rules. – Use only picture cards. Every card represents a different stage of life. For instance, King – adult, Queen – teenage, Jack – childhood, Ace – present.
